Sitter Connection... The Beginning
I
have always loved children and started helping in the church nursery
before I can remember. I officially started babysitting at age 12 and
by the time I was a senior in college, I had approximately 30 families
in my babysitting network, too many to babysit for alone! In August of
2004, the beginning of my senior year at Meredith College, after
relentlessly running up and down the hall of my dorm asking for a
Friday night babysitter for one of my regular families, I knew there
had to be a more effective way to match families with sitters. After a
bit of brainstorming and helpful advice, Sitter Connection, then known
as "Amanda's Babysitting Service", was born.
After realizing that there were many great babysitters and many families in need of sitters, I decided to be the "bridge" to connect them. The service began with The Babysitting List and has expanded to include additional services, including the one-time and weekly placement service. Running the service has been an amazing learning opportunity and has allowed me to meet many great families and sitters. It brings me joy to be able to provide quality childcare for area families. I am here to help families, therefore I am constantly looking for ways to improve Sitter Connection. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your babysitting needs, questions, and ideas.
