How is Sitter Connection different from other sitter services?
- Sitter Connection is more personal than other services.
- Sitter Connection provides a list of sitters which enables the families to contact the sitters directly.
- The sitters actually enjoy babysitting and are not doing it solely as an easy way to make money.
- All of the sitters are able to provide their own transportation.
- Sitter Connection does not set the pay rate; instead, the pay rate is determined by each sitter.
- All of the sitters are at least 18 years of age.
- Sitter Connection does not take a percentage of the money earned by the babysitters.
Can "The Babysitting List" be sent via
e-mail?
Under no circumstance will I e-mail the
list. I only provide the list in hard copy form to prevent the
possibility of the list being forwarded via e-mail to families who have
not purchased a membership.
Do you prorate the cost of the membership? No, I am unable to prorate the cost of the membership.
What if I lose my copy of "The Babysitting List"? There is a $10.00 replacement fee for lost Babysitting Lists.
Am I guaranteed to find a babysitter if I use "The Babysitting List"? No. "The Babysitting List" is a resource tool which is intended to help you find sitters. Hopefully, with the number of sitters on the list, this should not be a problem.
How much do I pay the babysitters? Since the babysitters are self-employed, they set their own pay rate. The average rate for college students is $10-12/hour, although some babysitters have different rates depending on the number of children. Please discuss pay rate with the sitter before she commits to babysit for your family.

How did Sitter Connection begin? Sitter Connection began in August of 2004 with "The Babysitting List". As a senior at Meredith College, after being overwhelmed with phone calls for babysitting and realizing I couldn't babysit for all of the families in the Raleigh/Cary area alone, I gathered a few close friends who I knew to be reliable, responsible, and who enjoyed babysitting. I then put their names and contact information on a list. The list proved to be an instant success!
